AFC Urgent Care West Springfield is performing rapid COVID-19 seven days a week after a telemedicine screening. COVID-19 is an upper respiratory infection previously unseen by doctors and scientists before its initial detection in late 2019. The virus has quickly spread worldwide, with over 87,000 confirmed cases in Massachusetts.
What are the symptoms of COVID-19?
COVID-19 has a set of symptoms that varies from case to case. While some patients have exhibited mild symptoms similar to a cold, other patients have experienced severe symptoms to none at all. However, patients are equally capable of spreading the virus regardless of severity of symptoms. After initial exposure to the virus, symptoms may develop in between two and fourteen days. Symptoms include:
- High fever (over 102 F)
- Persistent cough
- Shortness of breath and congestion
- Body aches
- Loss of smell and/or taste
How COVID-19 Rapid Testing Works
The COVID-19 rapid test is performed by using a swab to get a sample from the lower nasal cavity. The swab only takes a few minutes and is painless to the patient. AFC Urgent Care West Springfield is performing the rapid diagnostic test, which provides patients with results the same day as testing. Please note that this test is only being performed at our West Springfield location.
