Travel Medicine for Spring Breakers

Spring break is right around the corner for area colleges! Springfield is home to Springfield College, Western New England College, and American International College. We hope students have fun spring break destinations in mind, but if your travel includes travel abroad, it is highly recommended to consult a travel clinic doctor before you leave.

The Center for Disease control recommends various vaccines and precautions depending on the travel destination. The CDC recommends additional vaccines for popular destinations such as Mexico and Dominican Republic. For these destinations, vaccines recommended include Hepatitis A and Typhoid. Additionally, depending on your plans abroad, you should consider vaccines for Hepatitis B, Malaria, and Rabies. Doctors can also prescribe anti-diarrheal medicines in case you find yourself sick with Traveler’s Diarrhea.

No matter the destination, the CDC additionally recommends the flu vaccines as flu season is still in full force!

Visit a travel clinic soon if you plan to travel. The sooner the better. AFC Urgent Care in Springfield can help. We are a walk in center and can administer vaccines on site. Our extended hours fit easily into a busy student’s schedule. Visit a AFC Urgent Care Springfield location today:
