Urgent Care vs Emergency Room

A new trend in health care is booming in recent years. Urgent Care centers have been popping up in many different places across the country. These centers are a middle ground between the emergency room and your primary care. When your injury or illness is not severe enough for the emergency room and you cannot get an appointment at your PCP.

If your injury or illness is life threatening, please call 911 or go directly to the Emergency Room. However, if it is non-life threatening, urgent care facilities such as AFC Urgent Care can treat you in our facilities. These centers typically have long hours and open weekends, which most doctors’ offices are not. The costs are comparably lower and more comparable to a doctor’s office rather than an emergency room.

The trend of urgent care clinics grow as we enter 2014 and a post Affordable Care Act country where millions have access to health coverage as they did not before. The industry is expected to grow and hopefully will take the strain off most over exerted emergency rooms.
